‘Crowned in Colour’ is a colourful sculpture by Leentje Verjans in which an XXL duck takes on a striking, almost regal appearance.
Through this unique work, she explores self-worth and boldness, with vibrant colours representing optimism, creativity and the freedom to express yourself. Verjans’ playful visual language makes art accessible and inviting: the work immediately catches the eye, while encouraging viewers to discover beauty in the unexpected.
“Crowned in Colour is a celebration of colour, courage and the joy of life. This duck refuses to be ordinary. She wears her colours like a royal robe and her crown as a symbol of self-confidence. The gold represents warmth, strength and the value of life. The rhinestones are tiny pieces of light that make her sparkle. Because luxury does not always have to mean wealth. Sometimes, luxury is simply the freedom to show every part of who you are. And so this duck has crowned herself. Not because she is better than the others… but because everyone has the right to shine from time to time,” says Verjans.
